Have you ever wanted to try your hand at flying? Why not treat yourself, your husband or father to a flying lesson while enjoying a relaxing break at The George in Rye. Flying from Lydd Airport close to Rye, it is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
The lesson is operated by
Lydd Aero Club, a CAA authorised Flying Training Organisation. Any time flown during a lesson will count towards the Private Pilot's Licence course should you decide to take up flying.
Before the lesson commences the instructor will have carried out an external pre flight inspection of the aircraft to ensure that it is completely serviceable and safe.
All our aircraft are equipped with dual controls, and you will occupy the captain's seat alongside one of our experienced flying instructors. Throughout the lesson you will be encouraged to take the controls for most of the flight with the instructor intervening mainly during the takeoff and landing phases of the flight. The lesson will start with a pre-flight briefing. The instructor will then discuss the area over which the lesson will take place, describe the flying controls, their effects on the aircraft in flight and on the ground.
Our package includes for a 60-minute lesson in a 4-seater plane, generally in a Cessna 172 aircraft, allowing one or two passengers to travel in the back. In this time it is possible to fly across coast to Beachy Head or to the Thames Estuary in the other direction.
The trip two-night midweek package starts from £270 per person including the lesson, accommodation and dinner one night in our restaurant.
