Le Touquet package at The George in Rye

The George is now offering day trips to Le Touquet on the Opal Coast of northern France, in parnership with Lydd Air. Regarded as Paris by the Sea, Le Touquet is a serene and sophisticated 19th century resort. A favourite haunt of the likes of Noel Coward in the 1920s, its Art Deco villas provide an elegant backdrop for a visit.

Since Le Touquet is a favourite playground of Parisians, there is no shortage of gastronomy and shopping, while the beach or forests that surround the resort offer ample opportunities for walking off lunch. We'd particularly recommend you try Le Café des Arts, which has a seriously impressive cheese board. But to be honest if you're a foodie you'll have difficulty deciding where to eat as there are so many good restaurants. This article from The Times might help you to decide.

Running a fleet of small planes seating 18 (all window seats), Lydd Air fly to Le Touquet from local Ashford Lydd Airport in only twenty minutes! Flying on Saturdays until the end of June, the airline will fly daily (except Tuesdays and Thursdays ) to le Touquet in July and August. Flights depart at 9.30 am (with a minimal check-in), and return at 5.30 pm (local time), in ample time for dinner (if you're still hungry!). There are bicycles to hire at the airport for a short ride into town or taxis waiting on the rank. It couldn't be easier and you'll be free to do do as you please over the course of the day. The trip two-night midweek package starts from £305 per person including flights, accommodation and dinner one night in our restaurant.
