Rye is a delightful Cinque Ports town, set in picturesque 1066 Country in the South-East of England. The area is semi-rural with many small villages around the town of Rye. There is no large, district hospital in Rye; the nearest district hospital with full facilities, including an Accident and Emergency Department, is the Conquest DGH at Hastings, some 15 miles away. But what Rye does have is the Memorial Care Centre which is owned by a local Registered Charity, Rye Health and Care Limited.
The Care Centre provides both in-patient and out-patient facilites and many other health and community care services. It is remarkable in that it was built through a determined campaign by the local community; leading the campaign was a famous local resident, Sir Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda.
