  • Rye Christmas Festival

    Rye Christmas Festival.

    Rye Christmas Festival is a 15 days event, starting on Sunday, 12th December 2010. Father Christmas is led by his Reindeer through the winding medieval streets in a truly magical procession. A colourful and traditional Christmas Market adds to the wonderful atmosphere in the early evening. The event marks the beginning of a month of exciting seasonal events ranging from street theatre and fireworks to carol services. Father Christmas will be arriving in a horse drawn carriage escorted by a colourful procession of pipers, drummers, bands and performing artists. This will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

    Rye Bay Scallop Week

    The next Rye Bay Scallop Festival will take place from 12th - 20th February in 2011. The picturesque East Sussex seaside town of Rye hosts this ten-day festival every February - its mouthwatering locally caught scallops are said to be some of the best in the country.Hotels and restaurants throughout the seaside town produce special menus featuring local scallops. A programme of special events is on offer during the festival, including scallop-cutting and scallop-cooking demonstrations, as well as scallop-tasting evenings with musical entertainment, and local award-winning wine tastings.
