The course lies in a giant bowl on the dip slope of the South Downs and from its highest points spectacular views can be enjoyed of the Channel and the East Sussex hinterland. Designated a sight of outstanding natural beauty the course is home to an abundance of wild down-land flowers and many species of butterfly and bird. The wooded slopes that form a backcloth to many of the holes are themselves a unique feature which transform the Autumnal landscape into a riot of colour.
