A trip to Great Dixter isnβt all about the gardens you know..

Built around a 15th-century timber-framed hall, Great Dixter, the house was restored and expanded in 1910 by the great Arts and Crafts architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, working alongside homeowner and gardener Nathaniel Lloyd.
The result is a wonderfully atmospheric mix of medieval structure and early 20th-century craftsmanship β oak beams, open hearths, carved panelling and a sense of warmth that feels timeless.
In the quieter months, wandering the house gives you space to appreciate its history and personality β not least the spirit of Christopher Lloyd, whose flair and creativity still seem to linger in every room.
